Match Report vs Cardiff
IX 26th August 2024 @ Forest Farm (Skipper Jim, Report
Goffy)
The Casz amassed at a dampish Cardiff CC ground after a August
BH weekend of mostly heavy rain. However, top work as ever
by Rob O and his Cardiff compatriots with fork and patchwork
quilt needles meant we were good to go. The sun was shining
and there was the promise of double tea so this was what Sunday
cricket was all about!! (Yes I know it was Monday. We were
reminded about 50 fucking times throughout the game whenever
somebody uttered the words 'sunday cricket!'
On top of the sunshine and double-tea, the Cazh were also
awarded the opportunity to play Cardiff CC Under 10s! What
a result. We had already beat their U14s earlier in the summer
so they rolled out the big guns for this one.
On top of the sunshine, double-tea and playing the U10s,
The Cazh also didn't have to try and hide in the batting,
try and hide in the bowling, try and hide in the field or
even hear SteveO!! This was what dreams were made of!!!!
Toss lost and we were inserted. They either feared us or
thought the wicket would harden as the day goes on. Defo the
latter.
Skipper Jim and Liam F opened up. Liam looked solid from the
start and Jim looked his usual frantic self. Jim departed
in the 4th with score on 13. The U10s opening bowling attack
was decent tbf. Good lines and length from both.
Jack came and went before Super Rupert joined the fun. And
fun he had! Couple of early chances avoided and his girlfriend
watching (in the crowd of mostly proud Mums & Dads and
Grandparents) couldn't believe he could actually do something
well!! Rupert and Liam got hold of the game and we moved to
138 before Liam was bowled after a decent knock. 27th Over.
138-3.
And so for the Casz collapse. It wouldnt be a sunday without
one. (I know it was fucking Monday!!!!) Loads came and went
and all batted like twats. We only batted for another 10 overs
and managed to add a magnificent 61! Super Ruper(t) holed
out attempting a straight flat 6 - which was a bloody good
catch to be fair- and would have seen him into 3 figures!
174-4 33rd over.
Last 6 wickets fell for 18 runs - Mums and Dads and grandparents
were loving it and the U10s got very excited. So much so we
did have a little accident - but that was by DT as he tried
to run a single at the death. 192 all out
Jim 11
Liam F 42
Jack 4
Robbie 94
Cheese 2
Rob O 4
Liam W 11

Tea was taken - Good stuff although some idiot had put tomatoes
in some of the sandwiches which left those in quarantine (what
a waste!!)
Cardiff's reply was interesting. Although it felt we were
generally in control there were a couple of occasions when
it could have become sticky. Luckily we had Cheese in the
field slating loudly from ball one. Shame it was slating only
his own players!! But added to the occasion.
We were 50 odd short with the bat but managed to snare all
10 of the youngsters (well 11 if you include the retired hurt)
before they reached 180. We bowled a few caught a few and
ran out a few. A decent performance in the field but more
effort needed to be put in from the likes of Jack (who was
complaining that he was being treated unfairly too)!! Can't
imagine why?? Virtually all bowlers grabbed a wicket or 2
Goffy 6.1.12.1
Liam W 6.0.39.1
DT 8.1.32.2
Pat 5.0.22.1
Cheese 5.0.27.1
Pabs 5.0.25.0
Robby O 2.3.0.12.2
Pizzas came next!!! Another Casz win!!
Perfection!!
