Match Report vs Ponthir 5th May 2024 @ Ponthir (Skipper Cheese, Report Pat)

The Casuals arrived at Ponthir building site and sports ground under overcast skies, with forecasts predicting a varying level of rain for the afternoon.

After a toss agreement, the Cazh went into bat, with skipper Cheese partnered by Liam F - promoted from number 10 the previous week, quite the stellar rise. Unfortunately the partnership only lasted 9 balls until Cheese was bowled. This brought Will to the wicket who followed his century at the same ground last year with a chanceless innings in this game.
Liam made it to 8 before he also fell bowled to the opening bowler from the railway end. Debutant Joel joined Will and the pair moved the score onto 97-2 at drinks - more issues were off the field than on it, with a number of casuals struggling with the scoreboard, creating patterns looking more like Soviet communications than runs and wickets.

As is often the case, drinks brought a wicket with Joel falling 5 short of a debut half century. George came in next and set about building the score with some accomplished shots.
All was in vain though as heavy rain set in the 27th over.

Although this brought an end to play for the day, thankfully the day still had some merit as the teams set about the tea table, certain Cazh taking particular delight in the cake selection.
