Match Report vs Eclipse
22 June 2023 @ Wenvoe (Skipper Luvvers, report Dan)
Now some of the Cazh struggle to remember what happened in
a game they were asked to write the match report for when
they leave it for too long… this game was played in
June and match report written in November. However this one
is even more difficult to recollect as the author was neither
playing nor at the game. This report is regaled solely from
the scoresheet.
The Casuals started well by winning the toss, that might
have been as good as it was going to get… Captain Luvvers
chose to bat on the hot summers evening, and opened with himself
and Alex. 4th ball Luvvers smashed a 6 off presumably a loose
delivery as all other balls were dots. 1st ball of the 2nd
over Alex was bowled for a golden and Jesus was summoned to
the middle. The going was tough and both he and Luvvers either
struggled to get the ball away or were biding their time,
unfortunately Luvvers was bowled 1st ball of the 5th over.
Rhys joined Will in the middle. The pair proceeded to accumulate
a decent partnership – the highlight taking 14 off the
8th over. After a couple of maximums Will was caught in the
12th for 30, triggering a Cazh collapse - O'Reilly and Sayer
both fell for ducks, and Jim at 7 managed 2 before also being
bowled. Rhys then finished the collapse getting out for 33
in the 17th. Mhatre and Owens held the fort until the end
of the overs – bring the total to 118-7.

Liam and Rob opened the bowling for the Cazh, Liam struggled
with his line and conceded a few early wides, and in his second
over the batsmen took him on, he was replaced by Nirnay in
the 5th. Rob and Nirnay were both economical going for only
15 and 13 respectively. When their spells were complete Steveo
and Luvvers took the brunt of the batting attack, though Luvvers
did get the opener caught by Superhands behind the stumps.
Alex picked up a wicket in his second over. But the game
was already lost as the as Eclipse cruised to victory in the
18th with the loss of only 2 wickets (and 1 retiree).
This was to be just one of two losses in the league in 2023,
and the Cazh were happy to put this behind them by retreating
to the Wenvoe Arms for beer and crisps.
