Match Report vs Eclipse
21 June 2018 @ Wenvoe (Skipper and report Dan)
Little Ed Sheeran and a pile up on the M4 meant that the
match had a relaxed start time, Captain Dan offered the toss
call to Eclipse – they won and the Cazh were fielding.
Things couldn’t have gotten off to a better start,
Dan getting Mike to play on first ball. Goffy started with
conceding 2 boundaries then got one to nip back and bowled
the solid no3. 9 for 2 off 2. Dan got the No4 in his 3rd over
and Goffy bowled out. Dan leaving one in the tank for reserve.
34-3 off 7. Maxy replaced Dan at the pavilion end and DT replaced
Goffy. Both bowled fine, though Maxy conceded a boundary an
over including a 5 from a no ball in his last. Next ball he
got the first (first Cazh wicket?) bowling the remaining opener.
76-4 off 14. Steve B and Paul bowled the next 4, Steve bowled
some very good looking deliveries, but was then prone to chucking
a full bungger. He picked up a wicket caught by Goff running
round to thirdman. Paul got one bowled in his second. Dan
replaced Steve for the last but one over, but couldn’t
get pick up any more and Paul finished off and a run out was
provided between Kim and Steveo. Eclipse finishing on 115-7.
This was probably 10 to 15 runs more than it should have been,
and given the bounce of the ball on the wicket – it
looked like a challenging target.
Dan 4-0-10-2
Goff 4-0-22-1
Matt C 4-0-25-1
Dave T 3-0-16-0
Steve B 2-0-17-1

Luvvers and Kim opened for the Cazh and needed to be wary
against speedster Mike and accurate Brian. Both started cautiously,
and then Luvvers started to open up. Life was looking rosey,
but in the 6th over, Luvvers tickled an edge to the keeper.41-1
off 6. Winkie joined Kim and the partnership started to grow,
Kim smashed one into the stream but there the run rate was
predominantly funded by singles. In the 12th over Kim fell
to a fantastic caught and bowled. Like many times previously,
this wicket was the turning point. 70-2, 46 runs still required
but 8 overs in hand, the Cazh collapse began. Each over another
wicket fell – Steve in the 13th, looking ok, but backed
away to a fuller one; 14th Andy finally being undone to the
right arm round the wicket bowler. The 15th brought 2 - Steveo
faced 3 before being bowled and Goff connected with a couple
before trying to guide a straight one down thirdman and missed.
80-6 off 15. The pressure now on. Maxy was still there and
Dan next in. They both tried, Maxy clubbed many but to fielders,
they both run hard and even run a 3 off an over throw. Matt
was finally out in the last over, caught by the fielder who
had previously dropped 2 others. Dan thought he’d hit
a 6 but the fielder changed his mind to a 4, but he too was
to fall nicking one behind and Paul finished off getting bowled
last ball. The cazh finished on 105ao off 19.
Disappointing, one the skipper believed was ours to win,
however, some good bowling and fielding in the end put too
much pressure on the Cazh batsmen. The oppo and remaining
Cazh piled off back to the Wenvoe arms for a big buffet and
a pint.
