Match Report vs Rhiwbina
21 July 2011@ Catherdral Ground (Skipper and report
Dan)
With both Teams playing ‘away’ no advantage was
given to either team. Captain Dan won the toss and decided
to bat first. Tesh and Will opened. Rhiwbina’s opening
bowler helped the Cazh get off to a good start with quite
a few wides, however, before Big Willy could unleash his sword,
he was given out lbw for 0. The second over was similar to
the first, apart from Tesh was caught 2nd delivery before
the bowler gave us another 5 wides. A not particularly healthy
11-2 off 2.
Kim and Adam now at the crease. The pair began tentatively
for their first over, then feeling this was enough to get
their eye in started playing their shots. Kim opened his boundary
account with a 6, whilst Adam playing in just his second game
for the Cazh decided to go for 4s. The run rate never dipped
below 6 an over. With Kim nearing 50, Adam found himself having
much of the strike and soon caught up. It was going to be
a race to who could reach it first…Kim made it…with
114 on the board. He then decided to really open up for the
remaining 5 overs…Adam didn’t see strike again
until he was caught out off the penultimate ball of the innings.
Kim dominating the strike, plundered the Rhiwbina bowlers
to all parts of the ground with five more 6s and lots of 3s.
At the time of Richie coming on to replace Adam with just
1 ball of the innings to go, Kim was hoping for a miracle
wide or no ball as he was on 99. The bowler didn’t concede
and Kim was left ‘stranded’ on 99no. The Cazh
with a formidable total of 179-2.
Tesh – 1 ct
Will – 0 lbw
Kim – 99 no
Adam AN – 51 ct
Richie – 1 no
With a massive total to defend the Cazh were confident…though
we have been in this position before and made it a far to
close a game….
Rhiwbina looked to apply a quick run rate from the off,
BBNadders struggled somewhat with his line….on completion
of the over after 11 deliveries the score was on 16, however
one wicket down. One of the legal deliveries was a peach –
excessive swing bowled the other opening bat round his legs!
Paul opened from the other end and bowled steadily not getting
any wickets, but keeping the Rhiwbina scoring down well below
the rate they required. BBN’s remaining 2 overs were
much better and went for a lot less.
Tesh and DB took over, Tesh was quite expensive in his first,
but pulled it back in his second. Dave was consistent and
picked up a wicket (bowled) in his second. JR replaced Tesh
and continued to keep them well below the rate. Shag replaced
Dave and picked up a wicket maiden with his second and a further
2 more bowled in his 3rd. Big Willy also had a rare bowl and
took the wicket of the opener who had reached his half century,
caught by Adam on the boundary. Rhiwbina finished on 120-6
after the 18 overs.
An excellent knock from both Kim and Adam and a new 3rd wicket
partnership record of 172.
Nadeem – 3 overs (28 deliveries!) – 0 maidens
– 28 runs – 1 wicket
Paul – 3 – 0-19-0
Tesh – 2-0-18-0
Dave – 3-0-18-1
JR – 2-0-16-0
Dan – 3-1-2-3
Will – 2-0-13-1
Wides – 27 !!
