Match Report vs GE Healthcare
06 June 2011@ Wenvoe (Skipper Ed, report DB)
Despite the glorious weather i was not confident of playing
today given the record of the oppo but miracle of miracles
they turned up.
Not sure if the toss was won or lost but we batted first.
Tesh and Gaz opened but Gaz was bowled in the 3rd over for
0. Kim joined Tesh in the middle and dispatched the ball to
the four winds. They put on 50 before Kim(33) was caought
of the first ball of the 9th (possibly a bit unlucky as it
the ball looked to have been above waist height). Gwion was
next in and had a bit of a shaky start 1st ball edged for
one, 2nd ball dollied to mid wicket and dropped. Tesh was
out next bowled 1st ball of the 10th (12). JR was in at 5,
He and Gwion rotated the stike very well and Gwion made them
pay for the dropped catch with four consecutive boundaries
in the 16th. They had the 2nd 50 partnership of the innings.
Gwion was next out LBW (25). Next in and out Dion (0) caught.
Goff next up and though he didn't score many (2) he did run
well converting a few one's to two's, with some good (if extremely
high pitched) calling. Dan was last in with one ball remaining,
with instructions to bang it for 6 for the amusement of Britpops
son Fraser. Result - one leg bye. JR finished not out with
a great 40 which contained 4 boundaries. Casz finished on
142 for 6.
Tesh - 12 b
Gaz - 0 b
Kim - 33 c
Gwion - 25 lbw
JR - 40 no
Dion - 0 c
Goff - 2 st
Dan - 1 no
Nadders; DB; Muff - DNB
The Casz took to the field in great spirits after a great
batting performance. Dion opened the bowling and found a great
line and length, but Muff at the other end got the first wicket
in the 2nd over bowled with the score on 4. Dione took the
2nd wicket in the 7th bowled (18). DB took over fron Dion
and Nadders from Muff. Nadders struck next, Dion taking another
magnificent catch in the deep. After 10 overs GE needed 101
to win. DB took the next wicket in the 11th - another good
take by Dion (especially as he could have been put of by the
mockney sparra's premature ejaculation). Nadders took another
in the 14th (56) caught by shagger who was not his usual sharp
self in the field (I was going to write a lot more about this
but it's late and i want to go to bed). Dave struck again
in the 15th - bowled (61). JR and Shagger took the last four
overs both bowling well JR was unlucky not to get a wicket
but the catch was put down by the aforementioned Mr Lewis
to much hilarity. GE finished on 86 for 6.
