Milestones 2009
As with 2007 and 2008, the season of
2009 was severely affected by the rain, but whenever there
was a 'dry patch' the Cazh made the most of it.
Congratulations to all who reached
their milestones in 2009. Smitts reached his 1000th run in
style with an unbeaten century at Frampton; Jam made 4500
runs; Dan and Pabs reached 300 wickets and Foxy bowled his
500th over...and in the last over should have claimed his
first 5for but a relatively simle catch was put down at mid
off - the previous catch that was taken in the same position,
going 100 miles an hour faster was taken 'easily'..still always
next year!
And a couple who are just a few off...Shakey
isn't far off 4000 runs, Jeff and Steveo close to marking
their 100th and 250th appearance, and Richie one off 40 career
catches.
Just to note the 'stats' shown below
don't necessarily show who has the 'best' or 'most' figures
in the club, only those milestones which are likely to be
met in the forth-coming season. Though looking at some of
those mentioned, there had better be a lot of sun (and the
odd miracle) in 2010!!

@ The Cathedral School |
The young recruits from 2007 continue to 'grow', some taking
the Casuals eating philosophy very seriously, and might challenge
the 'fattest player' title this coming season. The holder,
Shakey, looked as if he would be knocked off top spot due
to the refurbishment of many of the take aways on City Road,
however, he made a strong come back at the end of the season.
Pikey's pre-wedding diet 'saved' him from challenging, whilst
Goughy, after becoming more 'rounded' due to a back injury,
found a new dietary solution - keeping his metabolism high
by shouting and swearing loudly throughout each game (plus
liking salad also helped).
However, the title was hauled in, like a giant Memorylane
sponge cake, by Jonny F who maintained a steady pace, high
volume diet, throughout the course of the season. Even scoring
151no on the hottest day of the year, with no shade on or
off the field, in his role as captain he engineered that this
would not affect his tea by winning the toss and batting first!
Congratulations Jam!! [match
