WIC-ket Winter League 2009 - results week 5

Post by dan lewis »

First up, a reminder that there is NO game next week as Sophia Gardens isn’t available – next game is the play offs on TUESDAY 17 FEB

Last night saw the conclusion of the round robin stage of the tournament with all four teams in action having something to play for …

The results:

Chartered Trust v South Glamorgan Education

South Glam 104/5 (10ovs)
Char Trust 55/6 (8.5ovs)
South Glam won by 49 runs

South Glam 17pts
Chart Trust 0pts

Eclipse Print v Cavaliers

Cavaliers 63/6 (8.5ovs)
Eclipse 64/4 (8.4ovs)
Eclipse won by 2 wickets

Eclipse 13pts
Cavaliers 4pts

So the table at the end of the round robin matches is as follows:

Eclipse P4 Pts54
S Glam P4 Pts49
Ch Trust P4 Pts 35
Cavs P4 Pts 26
CNS P4 Pts6

Congratulations to Eclipse who achieved a 100% win ratio in the round robin stage and now progress straight into the trophy decider at the Grand Final without having to feature in the play offs Which means that the play offs, on Tuesday 17 February, 8.30-9.30pm, are as follows:

2nd/3rd play off: South Glamorgan Education v Chartered Trust (winner plays Eclipse for the trophy on Grand Finals night, 24 Feb; loser plays winner of 4/5 play off)
4th/5th play off: Cavaliers v Casual No Stars

Fourth, a reminder that South Glam and Chartered Trust and the winner of the 4th/5th play off will all be playing in the Grand Finals night on Tuesday 24 February and, as this will be their 6th game of the tournament, will need to pay the additional match fee of £22.50 per team (everyone has paid for the 5 games they were guaranteed to play, and so the 3 sides who play 6 need to pay for that game) – it would be helpful if this money could be paid on the evening of the 2/3 and 4/5 play offs (ie. Tue 17 Feb) so that we wouldn’t have been subbing anything ourselves come the final week

Many thanks
